BABY WIPE POUCH (NO LINING)

 BABY WIPE POUCH (NO LINING)

BABY WIPE POUCH (NO LINING)

HOW I MADE THIS BABY WIPE POUCH

1                 Lay out the fabric...

2                 Cut out 3 pieces of 6 inches by 9 inches (Base of the pouch)

3                 Cut out 4 pieces of 3 inches by 9 inches (Flap of the pouch)

4                 Serge all edges of each piece of the cut outed fabric.

5                 Take 2 pieces of the 6 inches by 9 inches and place them rights sides together.  The package of your baby wipes that is approximately 5 inches by 8 inches will have a piece in the center or middle to pull the wipes out.  Take and trace around that with tracing paper.  Place in the center of the 6 inches by 9 inches and either stitch immediately around it on the two pieces that are facing right sides together or draw on the wrong side of fabric and then stitch on or around it.  All in all, once stitched, fold in the center and clip to start cutting the inside of the shape.  Press and turn inside out.  Press all in position and top stitch.

6                 Take the remaining piece of 6 inches by 9 inches and place on top with the right sides together.   Stitch sides and bottom.  Turning inside out and press.  Set aside for now.  Top will remain opened with the serged raw edges.

7                 Take 2 pieces each of the 3 inches by 9 inches and place right sides together on each.  Stitch sides and top and turn inside out.  The bottom will remain opened with serged raw edges.  These will be used to make the zipper at the top of the pouch.

8                 Fold flap about 1 to 1 1/2 inches from raw edges of bottom edge on each flap.  Obtain a zipper that is approximately 7 inches.  Take one of the flaps at the fold and place one side of the teeth of the zipper and stitch (top stitch) along the zipper length. Take the other flap on the fold and place on the other side of the teeth and repeat.  You may have to turn the edges of the zipper in (like dogs ears) while stitching or if you like make taps.  Press accordingly.

9                 Bring the base of the pouch together with the flaps.  Place the raw edges of the top of the pouch base to the bottom of the flap on front and back of the pouch with right sides together.  Stitch. Press.

Seams are ½ inch.

Topic Question Asked Copilot

Roll the imprint of a garden flower on a piece of fabric?
Answered by Copilot

Creating a flower imprint on fabric is a fun and creative way to capture the beauty of your garden. Here’s a simple method to do it:

Materials Needed

  • Fresh flowers (e.g., pansies, daisies, or any flower with a distinct shape)
  • Fabric (natural fibers like cotton or linen work best)
  • Hammer or mallet
  • Parchment paper or wax paper
  • Hard surface (like a wooden board or concrete)

Steps to Create a Flower Imprint

  1. Prepare the Fabric:

    • Wash and dry the fabric to remove any finishes.
    • Lay the fabric flat on a hard surface.
  2. Arrange the Flowers:

    • Place the flowers face down on the fabric in the desired pattern.
    • Cover the flowers with a piece of parchment paper or wax paper to protect them during the hammering process.
  3. Hammer the Flowers:

    • Gently but firmly hammer over the flowers through the parchment paper. This will transfer the natural pigments from the flowers onto the fabric.
    • Make sure to cover the entire flower to get a complete imprint.
  4. Reveal the Imprint:

    • Carefully lift the parchment paper and remove the flower remnants to reveal the imprint on the fabric.
    • Allow the fabric to dry completely.
  5. Set the Imprint:

    • To help set the color, you can iron the fabric on a low setting with a pressing cloth between the iron and the fabric.
    • Alternatively, you can soak the fabric in a vinegar solution (1 part vinegar to 3 parts water) for about 30 minutes, then rinse and dry.

Tips for Best Results

  • Use fresh flowers with vibrant colors for the best imprints.
  • Experiment with different types of flowers and leaves to see which ones give the best results.
  • Be gentle with the hammering to avoid tearing the fabric.

This method is great for creating unique designs on fabric for various projects like pillowcases, tote bags, or even clothing. Have you tried any fabric imprinting techniques before, or is this your first time?
