How I made the "Mug Rug Sewing With A Little Difference"

This type of sewing is a little different to me because I am used to sewing from patterns for clothing for myself over the years.  I didn't so much concentrate on craft sewing which is a little different to me then garment sewing.  Just like quilting is a difference to me too.   However, I am adjusting.

Finished size of the Mug Rug is 11 inches by 5 inches

To make:-

2 pieces of 4 1/2 inches by 4 1/2 inches plain fabric

1 piece of 4 1/2 inches by 2 1/2 inches design fabric

11 inches by 5 inches batting

12 1/2 inches by 6 1/2 inches backing fabric.

Threads

Tools to make:-

Sewing Machine

Rotary and Scissors

Ruler and tape measure

All stitching at 1/4 inch seam allowances.

Stitch the 2 pieces of fabric of 4 1/2 by 4 1/2 together with the 1 piece of 4 1/2 inches by 2 1/2 inches of fabric placed in the middle. Place applique as you like here.  I placed and zig zagged around it to hold in place.  Sandwich together the top layer, then the batting and backing.  The backing will be used as backing and as binding.   Sew in the ditch on each side of the middle 1 piece of 4 1/2 inches by 2 1/2 inches.  Then prepare binding according from the backing.

THANK YOU!

Thank you to many of the videos seen online in the #sewing #quilting #crafting #mugrugs they been very informative and helpful over the years.  They help refresh sewing skills resting dormant over the years too.

Memories Are Stitched With Love Mug Mat, Rope Basket And Trick-Of -Treat Bags In The Colours Halloween

HAPPY HALLOWEEN

Memories Are Stitched With Love Mug Mat, Rope Basket And Trick-Of -Treat Bags All In The Colours Of Halloween

Memories Are Stitched With Love "Mug Mat" is a pattern from June Taylor's collection to which I made this mug mat of "quilt as you go".  The batting was already marked with the markings to make the quilt as you go, along with measurements and instructions of how to given by June Taylor.

The color scheme and fabric of cotton was purchased from the Gibbon's Company in Bermuda of an 1/2 yard to make, along with the Trick Of Treat Bags for Halloween for Kids when they collect their candies either from parties, going house to house, etc.  Patterns of the bags derived from Simplicity patterns 4190 and 9963 but making them in a smaller version for kids size.

The Rope Basket derived from me just recently coming across on the internet and seeing Rope Basket or Bowls being made and popular as a craft.  I decided to try my hand at it, therefore, I used a bit of the fabric to include in the bowl or basket.  This technique of sewing like this is amazing because I didn't know that my sewing machine could handle or do such types of sewing.  To make the rope basket it took just purchasing a clothesline rope from Marketplaces' Dollar Store in Southampton, Bermuda for just $4.00 to which you can get many bowls or basket made with 100 ft.
