Elna Elnita ES4

My first Serger and first time ever using one, after wanting one since about 1976.  I finally got one which is probably a beginners one that I am using already without zigzags to finish of seams.

Works wonderful!

Highly recommend for home sewing.  Reasonably priced for home sewing as well.

Recently used the Elna Serger on these projects since purchasing.

Apron Sewing Project

A P R O N
An Adjustable Apron

Apron  (Adjustable Apron)

The following was utilized to make this Apron.

McCalls "It's Sew Simple" Style L9440 - Instructions within pattern. (Walmart)

Fabric - Waverly 1 Yard Packages (Walmart)

Thread - Coats and Clarks (Walmart)

Serger Thread - Mandala Serger Thread (Amazon)

Notions:  Scissors, Pinking Shears, Seam Ripper, Tape Measure, Pins, etc.

Basic Sewing Machine (Euro Pro)

Basic Serger Machine (Elna - Elnita)

Iron and Ironing Board

This apron is a good project to do for warming up and refreshing your experiences in sewing if you have not been sewing for awhile and a bit dormant.  An apron was one of the first projects while doing sewing within my Secondary School Education at Sandys Secondary while in the Cookery and Sewing Classes held there before doing the Commercial Secretarial Classes.  An apron covers some of those basic sewing skills needed to carry you through to advance sewing or more complex sewing skill.

This McCall's pattern has a casing which is great for this pattern because it allows adjustments on the neck as well as accommodating the waist to fit the person wearing it suitable to them.

Some of the basic sewing skills that were done in this apron project like:-

> Choosing fabric, pattern, interfacing notions etc.
> Pattern assembling and cutting
> Threading the machine and bobbin
> Doing seams, hemming, corners etc.
> Ironing or pressing
> Tape measuring, rulers etc.
> Tracing chalk, basting etc.
> Sergering for seam finishing
Etc.

Here is the Fat Quarters package that was purchased from Amazon to which I made this Placemat Setting from.

ShuanShuo Coffer Series Cotton Fabric Quilting Patchwork Fabric Fat Quarter Bundles Fabric for Sewing DIY Crafts Handmade Bags15"X19" 7pcs/lot (Lake Blue)

Also the following batting was used which was purchased from Gibbons Company :

Warm Company 45-Inch by 60-Inch Warm and White Cotton Batting, Crib Size

I also had the opportunity of trying my new serger out in this project which was recently purchased at Sew Vac Direct with brand Elna.

It is a very user-friendly serger and very comfortable.  It's really my first time for sergering but I seem to get on with it just as if it is my sewing machine.   I have been wanting a serger for years and finally got one.  It may not be like the big time ones out there with the automatic threading and all, but I like it and very pleased with it.   Someday, maybe I experience the more advance automatic, but this one is okay for now and am grateful.  Thank you Sew Vac Direct Elna thank you too for thinking of the beginners with a small pocket book.
