This apron is a good project to do for warming up and refreshing your experiences in sewing if you have not been sewing for awhile and a bit dormant. An apron was one of the first projects while doing sewing within my Secondary School Education at Sandys Secondary while in the Cookery and Sewing Classes held there before doing the Commercial Secretarial Classes. An apron covers some of those basic sewing skills needed to carry you through to advance sewing or more complex sewing skill.
This McCall's pattern has a casing which is great for this pattern because it allows adjustments on the neck as well as accommodating the waist to fit the person wearing it suitable to them.
Some of the basic sewing skills that were done in this apron project like:-
> Choosing fabric, pattern, interfacing notions etc.
> Pattern assembling and cutting
> Threading the machine and bobbin
> Doing seams, hemming, corners etc.
> Ironing or pressing
> Tape measuring, rulers etc.
> Tracing chalk, basting etc.
> Sergering for seam finishing
Etc.
