Cut out one 8 inch square.
Cut out one 4 inch square.
Once you have cut out evenly, fold in fourths each one the 8 and 4 inch squares. Place 4 inch in the center or middle of the 8 inch making sure that they line up in the fourths line prints when opened back up.
Then take the top and bottom and meet in the center. Sew or stitch a 1/4 inch seam allowance from the fold. Open and press. Now take the two sides left and right and bring to the center too. Sew and stitch 1/4 inch seam allowance from the fold. Open and press.
Optionals
Cut out a piece of backing fabric the size of your square, as well as 2 pieces of iron on interfacing. Iron the interfacing to backing and the main square. Place right sides together and stitch at a 1/4 inch seam allowance, leave a bit of opening for turning inside out. Turn inside out and ensure corners accordingly, Close opening by hand.

Cut out a 6 inch piece of paper.
Gather some scraps of fabric of your choice to use. Start in the center of the paper with a piece of fabric about 1 - 2 inches in square, then branch of from there with fabric meeting in making 1/4 inch in seam allowings always with right sides of fabric together. The fabric sizes will vary as you add on to fill out the size of the paper.
